MOVEABLE ARTS combines Socratic discussion with active participation in order to allow for an intimate environment and approachable instructors. All of our classes encourage students to ask questions and to think and feel as a professional would in circumstances that test our personal, creative and ambitious sensibilities. All of our workshops and programs will typically include a combination of the following courses:

Audition Technique: Theatre and/or Film and TV
A seminar class that breaks down the entire process of auditioning, from entering the room to the final call back. In addition to addressing the actor's process in the professional situation, we also focus on College auditions, and the inherent similarities and differences between the two experiences.
Audition Experience
All students present their audition material for a panel consisting of a Casting Director, Musical Director, Broadway performer and other members of our collective. Also known as a "mock-audition", this class can be treated as an informal critique session, or can be an elaborate casting session that mirrors a Broadway audition.
On Your Toes
An audition technique class focusing on the cold reading, for both theatre and film/TV. For our NYC Retreats, students read scenes in an audition setting with collective members.
The Business of the Business
Course topics include: Unions and contracts, Producing for the Theatre, and Reality Check - An exploration of the practical day-to-day life and business aspects of being on Broadway and surviving in New York City.
Dance and Choreography Workshops
Work with NYC teachers and choreographers. Available for advanced dance groups as well as actors/singers. Focus on Classic Broadway Repertoire, Dance Audition Technique or original choreography.
Headshot Workshop
Work with a casting director and a prominent NYC photographer on how to approach the issue of aquiring headshots. Time permitting, students can leave with a new headshot... |
